6734 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: Further to 3228 (2026), how many initial teacher education places did University of Canterbury | Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha apply for School Onsite Training Programme funding for in each of primary and secondary school programmes, listed by each year they applied?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that University of Canterbury | Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha applied for School Onsite Training Programme (SOTP) funding for: • one primary place and two secondary places for the 2025 academic year • 10 primary places and 26 secondary places for the 2026 academic year. Prior to 2025 SOTP was available only for teacher training in secondary schools and was delivered by two Initial Teacher Education providers only: University of Auckland and University of Waikato.
