Hon David Parker to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What data is collected on the length of time that people stay in the Cook Islands while receiving New Zealand Superannuation via the Special Portability of New Zealand Superannuation, and if it is collected, what is the average length of time, and the duration of each case, over the last ten years?

Hon Louise Upston: I refer the member to the attached tables: • Table 1 which provides New Zealand clients with New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran’s Pension ported to the Cook Islands as at the end of January 2025, by pension type, and duration of payments in the Cook Islands. • Table 2 which provides New Zealand clients with New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran’s Pension ported to the Cook Islands as at the end of January 2025, by average and median weeks duration of portability.
