6661 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: What guarantees can the Minister give to concerned parents of students with high and complex needs, who’s children may not be able to attend Matai School next year due to recent developments?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Education (the Ministry) is committed to working closely with all impacted families in the Nelson Tasman region in Term 2 to understand the needs of their children and provide the necessary support to ensure they have an appropriate educational pathway in 2025. The Ministry has initiated a process for reviewing 352 Ministry-led projects across 305 schools and kura pre-construction to identify opportunities to achieve better value for money. Planned redevelopment projects at Maitai School are included in the value for money reviews.
