6656 (2024). Hon Carmel Sepuloni to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What is the total number, if any, of those who stopped receiving jobseeker support between the financial years 2019 to 2023 inclusive due to reaching the age of 65 and thus being eligible for superannuation?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that due to how information for recipients receiving Jobseeker Support, then transferring to New Zealand Superannuation is recorded in Ministry systems, this would require a review of individual client files and for the Ministry to undertake substantial manual collation, diverting staff from their core duties. In accordance with the Speakers Ruling 199-6, I consider the time and hence the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest.
