6603 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Education: Between 26/11/23 and 22/02/24, what action, if any, has the Minister taken to reduce and / or pause the number of new classrooms being built at schools in the Otago/Southland region?
Hon Erica Stanford: I have not taken action to reduce or pause new classrooms being built. The Ministry of Education (the Ministry) has initiated a process for reviewing 352 Ministry-led projects across 305 schools and kura pre-construction to identify opportunities to achieve better value for money.  Further information is available at education.govt.nz/our-work/changes-in-education/value-for-money-reviews/. The value for money reviews are an operational matter for the Ministry and are not related to the Ministerial Inquiry into school property.
