6602 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Health: How many vacancies, if any, were there in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, as of 1 January 2023?

Hon Simeon Brown: I refer the Member to the attached table for the number of vacancies for the Ministry of Health. I am advised that Health New Zealand vacancy information is not available in an easily reportable format as it is drawn from multiple legacy workforce systems used across districts, which apply different definitions and processes and have some data gaps, role-specific exclusions (such as RMOs), and limitations in consistently attributing vacancies to services or departments. I do not consider it to be in the public interest to divert staff from their work to undertake a substantial collation exercise.
