6493 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on replacing The Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992 with a human-rights based approach to acute mental health care and, if so, what is he doing to progress this?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that titles of all advice that I have received will be proactively released on the Ministry of Health, Health New Zealand, and Māori Health Authority websites. I am further advised that a Bill to repeal and replace the Mental Health Act is in the process of being drafted and will be progressed at the appropriate.
