6441 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: In response to Reply 4757 (2025), how many, if any, applications were made since 8 May, 2024, by schools to provide Ka Ora, Ka Ako internally from Term 1, 2025, onwards; of those that applied, how many, if any, were successful?

Hon David Seymour: The Ministry of Education has advised me that, since the 8 May 2024, there have been 23 applications to move from an external model to an internal model. 19 of this group indicated that they were interested in the possibility of transferring to the internal model. They did not progress further. There are five schools that applied to move to an internal (receiving) model where they receive lunches supplied by another internal model school. Of these, one has been approved and the others are at different stages of the application. The Ministry of Education has a comprehensive process to assess compatibility with the internal model. Once capability has been demonstrated the application then progresses to finalise. This ensures that schools are fully able to sustain this undertaking.
