6440 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: In response to Reply 4758 (2025), how many, if any, applications were made since 8 May, 2024, by schools to provide Ka Ora, Ka Ako utilising an iwi/hapū model from Term 1, 2025, onwards; of those that applied, how many, if any, were successful?

Hon David Seymour: The Ministry of Education has advised me that, since the 8 May 2024, their records identify eight applications to move from an external model to an iwi/hapū model. In addition, the Ministry decided to transition ten schools in the Tairawhiti / Gisborne area from external providers to local Iwi/ Hapū providers prior to Term 1, 2025 to mitigate against the risk of natural events such as road closures.
