6433 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Will the Minister introduce legislation to ensure that social media platforms advertising financial services in New Zealand have to undergo a verification process?

Hon Scott Simpson: I understand that Google introduced a verification process for financial services advertising in 2024 and that Meta is considering one. I intend to monitor action in this area before considering further steps.
