6379 (2025). Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Prime Minister: At what time and date, if any, was Cabinet Office first informed of an incident regarding Hon Andrew Bayly and a staff member?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: Timeline: Tuesday 18th of February – Incident occurs in the Minister’s office Wednesday 19th of February – No formal complaint was made about the incident, however Ministerial Services and the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff are informed of the incident. Thursday 20th - The Prime Minister is informed of the incident by his Chief of Staff. Thursday 20th and Friday 21st – Ministerial Services discuss the incident with affected parties. Friday 21st February – Cabinet Office is informed of the incident. Friday 21st February – The Minister tenders his resignation to the Prime Minister via phone call. Sunday 23 February – Cabinet Office was advised that Hon Scott Simpson was to be appointed as Minister for ACC and Minister for Commerce and Consumer Affairs. Monday 24 February – The Governor General was advised of the incident and Hon Bayly’s resignation. Monday 24 February at approximately 2.30pm – The Governor general accepted the resignation of Hon Bayly, and appointed Hon Simpson to his Ministerial portfolios .
