6377 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: How many vacancies, if any, were there in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, as of 1 January 2023?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) reports vacancies as positions (both occupied and vacant) under active recruitment. As at 31 December 2022, there were 406 positions under active recruitment at the Ministry. I am advised that Education New Zealand does not hold information on how many vacancies they have at any given point. I am advised that, as at 1 January 2023, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority had 106.98 vacancies. These included: Actively Recruiting, On Hold or Not Funded vacancies (Permanent and Fixed Term). I am advised that, as at 31 January 2023, the Education Review Office had 31 vacancies.
