6375 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Has the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development decided to restrict funding for transitional housing to self-contained units and if so, why?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development applies a general preference for self-contained accommodation over housing with shared facilities. I further understand that there are some situations where HUD will support more communal living arrangements where appropriate, such as for some Youth Transitional Housing. I am also advised that this has been the practice for some time including under the previous Government.
