6372 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister support Consumer New Zealand's campaign for banks to refund scam victims for authorised and unauthorised scam payments, unless the victim has been grossly negligent?

Hon Scott Simpson: I support a bank-led compensation scheme for victims of authorised and unauthorised scam payments. I consider that any scheme needs to balance the incentives on banks to protect their customers and for customers to take care when making online payments.
