6348 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Conservation: How many full time equivalent (FTE) roles, if any, were there in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, as of 1 January 2023?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation advises me that there were 2,101.25 permanent FTE roles as at 31 December 2022 (the closest reporting date to 1 January 2023). Please note that this figure appears lower than other years because the count excludes vacant roles for this reporting date only. The Department was undergoing organisational change at this time and any vacancy information held in the Department’s systems does not represent a true representation of vacant roles, so these could not be included in the total.
