6241 (2026). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister of Immigration: What is the threshold required to be met, if any, before an Immigration New Zealand compliance officer initiates a compliance visit to a residential address?

Hon Erica Stanford: The legal framework for such visits is found in the Immigration Act 2009. I am advised that Compliance uses a graduated response model when dealing with people alleged to be in breach of the Act. A compliance visit may be undertaken when a person has not responded to emails and text messages and there is credible information that there is a person at the address who is or may become liable for deportation.
