6200 (2026). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many, if any, people over the age of 65 are currently living in public/social housing?

Hon Tama Potaka: Kainga Ora - Homes and Communities advises me that of the 199,216 people recorded as living in the 70,917 Kāinga Ora public housing tenancies as at 28 February 2026, there were 20,797 people across 18,066 tenancies that were 65 or older, including 16,351 who were the main tenant.
