6182 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Resources: Can funding or support under the Minerals Strategy be used for marine mineral extraction projects?

Hon Shane Jones: There is no funding available under the Resources portfolio for marine mineral extraction projects under the Minerals Strategy for New Zealand to 2040. The Government has ring-fenced $80 million in the Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF) for critical minerals projects. Projects must meet the existing criteria for RIF funding to be eligible.
