6134 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister for Biosecurity: Is the Minister concerned that the Government's rates cap will affect councils' ability to manage invasive pest species, such as the invasive gold clam in Lake Rotomanu which Taranaki Regional Council cannot afford to eradicate, thereby putting more pressure on Biosecurity NZ to manage these species?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Local bodies have always had to prioritise their spending and are democratically accountable to their ratepayers for their decisions.
