6133 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister for Biosecurity: Is the Minister confident Biosecurity NZ has sufficient resources and staffing to manage recent invasive pest outbreaks, including hornets, gold clams, caulerpa, and - most recently - the discovery of a fruit fly in Auckland?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) that sufficient resources and staffing are available to manage the recent biosecurity response activity. As the situation develops, MPI will be able to surge more staff into supporting response operations as needed.
