6087 (2026). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister of Immigration: Has she been advised of any risks around the $2.34 billion expected in the next six months not coming through; if so, what are those risks?
Hon Erica Stanford: Visa applicants under the Active Investor Plus visa are required to transfer and invest their nominated funds (or funds from the sale of nominated assets) within six months of the date their visa application was approved in principle. Immigration New Zealand (INZ) may grant a six-month extension for the transfer of funds to occur (for a total of 12 months maximum). The grant of an extension is subject to the provision of evidence demonstrating to INZ’s satisfaction that the applicant has made reasonable attempts to transfer and invest their funds within the original six-month period allowed. An applicant does not receive their residence visa until they have transferred and invested their funds in acceptable investments. If the applicant does not complete the transfer within the period allowed, their application will be declined.
