Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: What advice, if any, has he received about developing a programme, like Priority One, to bump people living rough to the top of the social housing waiting list to help address issues communities are facing related to homeless people living on the streets and when, if at all, will he deliver such a programme?

Hon Tama Potaka: I received advice from officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Ministry of Social Development in August last year as part of the work on short term Actions to address homelessness on an option for creating a new fast track into social housing for unhoused Housing First clients. That option was not recommended and I am not actively considering delivering such a programme.
