5838 (2024). Celia Wade-Brown to the Minister of Local Government: Will those councils which take the proposed opportunity to reverse their decision to establish Māori wards or to disestablish those wards prior to the 2025 local body elections be required to consult with their communities?

Hon Simeon Brown: Within timeframes to deliver the 2025 local elections, Councils will be able to choose how to undertake consultation in any way they see fit prior to making their decision.
