5825 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many times, if any, were nurses not accompanied by an escort while dispensing medications to prisoners in March, by prison?

Hon Mark Mitchell: My officials have advised me that they are not aware of any instances for the month of March where nurses were not accompanied by an escort while dispensing medications to people in prison. I am further advised that medication management is governed by clear policies and procedures both in the custodial and health spaces, and all nurses should be accompanied by custodial staff while dispensing medication.
