5807 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Local Government: What are the deliverables expected of the Crown Manager between Wairoa District Council and Hawkes Bay Regional Council regarding emergency management?

Hon Simon Watts: The Crown Manager’s role is to direct the councils to address any barriers to effective flood management of the Wairoa catchment. He works closely with both councils and the Wairoa community to support the delivery of a sustainable flood resilience plan. The Crown Manager reports monthly on progress to myself as the Minister of Local Government, and the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery, Hon Mark Mitchell. He also meets on an ad-hoc basis with Ministers as required. His role will be reviewed in May 2025.
