5798 (2024). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Why does the Minister not believe a better regulation of social media platforms to be a top priority?

Hon Brooke van Velden: The regulation of social media platforms is not a priority amongst the initiatives I plan to advance within the Internal Affairs portfolio. However, I do believe consideration can be given to non-legislative initiatives to prevent online harm such as the support the Department of Internal Affairs provides to help parents teach their children to be safe online through its Keep It Real Online website.
