5797 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: How many people are currently working within the Health Assurance Unit, listed by role and length of service?
Hon Simeon Brown: As I said in the House on 19 February, the Public Service Commission has established the Health Assurance Unit to support our Government's focus on getting health back on track after the previous government decided to restructure the health system in the middle of a pandemic. The Unit consists of an Executive Director, a Policy Lead, Policy Support, a Programme Manager, a Portfolio Private Secretary and a Programme Administrator. I note this is significantly fewer than the 135 people working in the previous government's Health Transition Unit, as per Written Parliamentary Question 54890 (2021).
