5795 (2024). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Does the Minister believe that leaving the responsibility for what children see online to parents will protect all New Zealand children and, if so, why?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I believe that internet use by children outside of school hours is the domain of parental responsibility, and there are existing resources available to help families to prevent children from seeing harmful content online. I do acknowledge that children need some time away from social media which is why this Government has implemented a ban on cell phones in schools.
