5789 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What specific actions will the Health Assurance Unit take to review the turnaround plan proposed by the Health Commissioner, if any?

Hon Simeon Brown: As I said in the House on 19 February, the Public Service Commission has established the Health Assurance Unit to support our Government's focus on getting health back on track after the previous government decided to restructure the health system in the middle of a pandemic. The Unit is providing independent assurance that Health New Zealand's work to deliver timely, quality healthcare through the Government's health targets is supported by clear plans and accountability arrangements.
