5777 (2025). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: Have individuals associated with the New Zealand Initiative made any suggestions for appointments to the Minister; if so what were those suggestions and were they appointed?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I understand the Member is referencing a response to a request made under the Official Information Act 1982 which was released to an individual who has sought a judicial review of appointments to the Human Rights Commission. This response stated that the Chair of New Zealand Initiative suggested Dr Melissa Derby as a candidate. I do not posses a exhaustive list of all individuals associated with the New Zealand Initiative, therefore, it is not possible to answer the Member's question.
