5759 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister of Immigration: What advice, briefings, reports, memos, or other written advice, if any, has the Minister received regarding urgent immigration pathways for Palestinians, by title and date received?

Hon Erica Stanford: Since becoming Minister I have asked officials for a range of advice relating to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Due to the constantly evolving nature of the situation much of the advice I have received is through verbal updates. My office has received the following written advice relevant to considering a special category visa for Palestinians: • 20 December 2023: “20 December 2023 – Palestine Request” • 18 January 2024: “18 January 2024 – Palestine update” • 20 February 2024: “RE: URGENT - commissioning on visa options for Palestinians” • 21 February 2024: “RE: Senior officials needed for 4pm today” The title of one document is being withheld as it is under active consideration. I also receive weekly operational updates on visa processing for Palestinians.
