5725 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: Has the Minister sought any advice from his officials on the climate impacts of the Coalition Agreements' commitment to repeal the offshore oil and gas ban; if so, what are the titles of that advice?
Hon Simon Watts: The Government regularly assesses the climate impacts of policies. A Climate Implications of Policy Assessment (CIPA) is currently underway for this policy. The CIPA analysis will be included in a Cabinet paper and inform Cabinet decision-making. I have not reqeusted other advice. This Government is committed to achieving our climate targets. We have made the first two emissions budgets to 2030 part of our nine Government targets recently announced by the Prime Minister. We will outline how we will meet the target through the second Emissions Reduction Plan, which is due for release at the end of this year.
