5694 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: What environmental expertise, if any, does the Fast Track Projects advisory group have?
Hon Chris Bishop: Cabinet have agreed that members of the Fast-Track Project Advisory Group should “represent a range of expertise and experience on matters such as infrastructure, economic development, environment, conservation, Treaty of Waitangi and local government”. Additionally, members have experience in resource management systems, forestry, waste management, sustainability and the energy sector. Advisory Group members’ expertise includes: - sustainability management for Ports of Auckland Limited. - working in an advisory role collating scientific advice for government on topical environmental issues. -corporate environmental management and advisory roles for forestry. - acting as a New Zealand delegate at international fisheries conferences where negotiations typically related to matters broadly associate with fisheries conservation and sustainability, trade access, food safety and security. - energy industry experience with decarbonisation and ‘new energy’. The Advisory Group may, when required, request access to specialist advisors from relevant central government agencies, and specialists outside of government.
