5666 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What qualifications, if any, are the Oranga Tamariki staff employed as youth workers required to possess to gain employment as a youth worker at Oranga Tamariki?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that tertiary qualifications are not a required component of the key selection criteria for Youth Worker roles. Oranga Tamariki assess applicants for Youth Worker roles against key selection criteria made up of the core capabilities, skills, behaviours and experience that have been found to contribute to success and resilience in the Youth Worker role.
