5658 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: How many, if any, of state and state integrated schools have received funding for upgrades, broken down by the type of upgrade between and inclusive of November 2023 and March 2024?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Education (the Ministry) provide all state schools with capital funding as part of the 10 Year Property Plan process to maintain and upgrade the school property. I am advised by the Ministry that as part of their 5YA, 231 state schools received funding between 1 November 2023 and 1 April 2024 to upgrade and maintain their property. The term ‘upgrade’ is too broad for the many types of upgrade and maintenance projects carried out by schools and captured in the Ministry’s database. Examples of upgrades may include roof and gutter replacements, toilet refurbishments, acoustic treatment, electrical works, and stormwater drainage upgrades.
