Hon Penny Simmonds: I refer the member to the below, showing the funding provided to The Teacher’s Institute for each of the years they were provided funding. Year Funding 2025 $754,000 2026 $2,312,832 Total $3,006,832 The Teachers Institute received funding from the Tertiary Education Commission for the first time in 2025, to deliver Secondary Initial Teacher Education. Following strong delivery and exceptional outcomes for learners, funding was increased to $2.3 million to support a further 102 learners enrolled in Secondary Initial Teacher Education to align their tuition subsidy funding with School On-Site Training Programme funding already committed to by the Ministry of Education. At the same time as this approval was made TEC also approved additional funding for four other providers of the same programme to align their tuition subsidy funding with School On-Site Training Programme funding already committed to by the Ministry of Education.
