5570 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What components of the Wellington SH1 tunnel proposals are currently funded, and what components are not funded, as at 20 February 2026, down by work package, budget amount, and funding source?

Hon Chris Bishop: As outlined in my press release of 20 October 2025, funding of $185 million has been approved to progress the pre-implementation phase for the project (design and consenting). A further $53 million has been allocated to purchase properties required for the project. This funding has been allocated in the 2024-27 National Land Transport Plan. Construction funding for this project is subject to future decisions.
