5553 (2024). Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Prime Minister: Does he stand by his statement on Maori wards “But the reality is, on the Maori wards thing, we're a party in a government that believes very strongly in localism and that local communities should be responsible for how they want to organise themselves. Otherwise, this mass centralisation, with everything done centrally from Wellington, doesn't make a lot of sense”, and if so, how many Maori Wards were imposed by central government and how many were decisions of local government, by local authority?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: Yes. The member should direct his questions about Maori Wards to the Minister of Local Government.
