5537 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Environment: What process, if any, was followed for the appointment of Murray Willans to Fiordland Marine Guardian?

Hon Penny Simmonds: The standard process for the appointment of Murray Willans was followed. This included consideration of relevant matters under the Fiordland (Te Moana o Atawhenua) Marine Management Act 2025 and the Public Service Commission Board Appointment and Induction Guidelines. The appointment was confirmed by the Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee in July 2025.
