5536 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Environment: How many other candidates, if any, were considered for the role of Fiordland Marine Guardian and how many, if any, were interviewed?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Twelve candidates were considered for six roles in the Fiordland Marine Guardians appointment process completed in July 2025. Five existing Guardians were reappointed. Four candidates were interviewed and one was appointed as a new Guardian.
