5535 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Environment: Was a selection panel set up to consider applicants for the role of Fiordland Marine Guardian and if so, who was on the selection panel?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Yes. The Fiordland Marine Guardian appointment process completed in July 2025 included an interview panel comprising the Chair of the Fiordland Marine Guardians, a Guardian member, and an official from the Ministry for the Environment.
