Hon Shane Jones: Fisheries New Zealand routinely collects data and information via electronic reporting by commercial fishers, the fisheries observer programme and fishery officers. This is used to understand trends and identify instances where further educational or compliance activity is needed. Additionally, summary data on commercial catch, accidental capture of protected species and capture of footage from on-board cameras is publicly reported every quarter.
