Hon Penny Simmonds: I am conscious that both soils and landfill space are limited and valuable resources. The disposal of soils to landfill in certain situations can be an unnecessary loss of both resources. My officials have and continue to engage with the waste sector to determine the root causes of the surplus soil problem and how they may be best addressed.
