5518 (2025). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for the Environment: What analysis, if any, has the Ministry for the Environment undertaken on the economic and environmental costs of soil disposal in landfills?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised the Ministry for the Environment has undertaken surveys of the waste materials deposited in landfills. The analysis of these surveys may provide some indications of environmental and economic costs of the disposal of soils to landfill, but specific analysis of these criteria has not been undertaken.
