5498 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Associate Minister of Transport: What process, if any, was followed for the appointment of Dame Jo Anne Brosnahan as Chair of Maritime New Zealand Authority?

Hon James Meager: This appointment was made in 2018 by the Minister of Transport at that time. I have been advised by the Ministry of Transport that the process consisted of the following steps: the Minister of Transport agreed to the process for filling the vacancy; the position was publicly advertised and nominations received; a shortlist was developed and interviews were conducted; due diligence was undertaken along with Ministerial consultation with Government support and coalition parties, as well as caucus colleagues; Cabinet and the Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee were notified of the decision.
