5465 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister of Local Government: What additional regulatory or oversight powers, if any, has Taumata Arowai requested from the Minister in regards to stormwater services?

Hon Simon Watts: As part of the legislative process for the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025, the Water Services Authority—Taumata Arowai provided the Minister of Local Government with advice on options for additional powers for water services (including stormwater) which was subsequently considered through the legislative process. These discussions are ongoing.
