5462 (2026). Scott Willis to the Minister for Regional Development: Further to reply 3530, was OpenStar Technologies invited by the Minister to apply for Regional Infrastructure Funding, or was the application entered of their own initiative?

Hon Shane Jones: OpenStar Technologies proactively engaged with the Government seeking support for its OpenStar Fusion Energy Research and Development Facility project. OpenStar Technologies was then referred to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, where Kānoa – Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit met with OpenStar Technologies and sought further information including a Regional Infrastructure Fund application form.
