5451 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage: What process, if any, was followed for the appointment of Dame Jo Brosnahan as Chair of Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Board?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: A contestable process was run which included consideration of a range of nominations received from the Ministry for Culture and Heritage’s database, names from coalition and caucus colleagues and government nominating agencies. Due diligence interviews were undertaken on shortlisted candidates which canvassed the required skill sets and suitability for the role, and background checks were undertaken on preferred candidates ahead of Cabinet consideration.
