5444 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Sport and Recreation: What process, if any, was followed for the appointment of Raewyn Lovett as Chair of Sport and Recreation New Zealand (Sport NZ) Board?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Raewyn Lovett was appointed as Chair of the Sport New Zealand Board in July 2023, after serving as Deputy Chair since August 2021 and member since July 2018. I am advised that her appointment to the position fulfilled appropriate and timely succession planning following the resignation of her predecessor. The appointment was made in accordance with Schedule 5 of the Crown Entities Act 2004 and the appointment proceeded through Cabinet processes in accordance with the Public Service Commission’s appointments guidelines.
