5440 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: What was the total amount paid in legal costs to Meredith Connell in respect of the Whakaari / White Island prosecutions?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that WorkSafe New Zealand has paid Meredith Connell, for legal costs in respect of the Whakaari / White Island prosecutions up to 31 March 2024, a total of $11,865,290.93. This amount is GST exclusive and includes disbursements and work done on the Whakaari related Buttles Judicial Review.
